São José dos Campos is an economic and technological development pole in the Paraíba Valley (SP), formed by a complex of industries, research centers, startup incubators and universities.
It is also one of the largest exporters in the country. In 2020, it registered US$ 2 billion in exports. Among the sectors and production chains are automobile, chemical and pharmaceutical, and oil and energy companies. The city is also a reference when it comes to the aerospace and defense sector.
And it is in this scenario that the Mac Jee Group recently invested more than R$ 100 million in the expansion of two factories in the region.
In São José dos Campos, the company has more than 5000 m² of manufacturing area. Located at a strategic point, on the banks of the Carvalho Pinto highway, the factory has all the structure to produce inert materials. The company is now preparing to expand its largest manufacturing unit in Paraibuna, with the expectation of generating 200 more jobs.
The active factory has approximately 2,600,000 m² and will be responsible to produce energetic materials, aerial ammunitions, among other products.
According to the CEO of Grupo Mac Jee, Alessandra Stefani, the choice of the Vale do Paraíba region is strategic. “São José dos Campos is worldwide known for the concentration of companies and people with expertise in the areas of technology and defense. We want to expand this center of great knowledge and continue contributing to the country’s technological autonomy”.
The CEO also highlighted that the company’s goal is to be self-sufficient. “Our engineering and operations team is looking for new technologies and solutions daily. Thus, we guarantee that all the company’s production cycles are developed internally, delivering exclusive products and services, with important differentials in the market and without the involvement of other countries.”
The executive also emphasizes that the Group is open to partnerships with other companies. “We want to work together with companies in the region, increasingly strengthening this technological hub that is so important for the development of Brazil.”
Development
The Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development of São José dos Campos, Alberto Marques Filho, says that the city makes every effort and puts a “red carpet” to attract these companies. “We have a concentration of defense and space companies. For this, a review of the Tax Incentives Law was carried out to include this new strategic chain, which is defense”.
According to the secretary, there is a lot of vitality in the defense sector and companies are in frank hiring, as is the case with Mac Jee. “These companies are investing and hiring, because they are working on future contracts, in addition to those already in progress. And they are robust contracts. I see a very positive scenario”.
Excellence
Grupo Mac Jee has gone through several qualification processes. The company created a Quality Management System, mapping all its macro-processes and interactions, defining responsibilities, and creating clear management of all steps in the production chain, ensuring ISO 9001 certification.
The AS9100D:2016 certification, which confers a quality management system widely adopted by the aerospace industry, was also achieved by the company. In addition to fully incorporating ISO9001, it ensures alignment with the IAQG- International Aerospace QualityGroup strategy
Now the company wants to continue with the certification process in other important standards such as ISO 14001, for the Environment, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable solutions.
